Description: The Known Contaminated Sites List (KCSNJ) for New Jersey are those sites and properties within the state where contamination of soil or ground water has been confirmed at levels equal to or greater than applicable standards. This list of Known Contaminated Sites may include sites where remediation is either currently under way, required but not yet initiated or has been completed. While frequent revisions will be made, it is important to note that this GIS posting is "static" and does not perfectly reflect the "live" KCSNJ as new sites are added and old sites removed between updates. A "live" KSCNJ report can be viewed via Data Miner at: 1) Go to https://www13.state.nj.us/DataMiner 2) Select Search by Category 3) Select Site Remediation 4) Under General, select The Known and Suspected Sites by County for a listing of Known Contaminated Sites by County. Information concerning individual contaminated sites can be viewed via other dataminer reports based on the Site ID or the SRP Preferred Interest # for the SRP case associated with that site. A small number of sites in the KCSL have no X/Y coordinates as of this date and therefore are not included in the GIS version. These sites do appear on the above in the tabular reports. Coordinates for the GIS version of the KSCL are largely "front door" locations acquired via "address matching" or which is an approximation of the facility front door. Many of these locations were also gathered by the Department using GPS and although these tend to be much more accurate, mistakes are sometimes made. Since errors can occur, users are encouraged to notify BIS of any these or any other inaccuracies in the KCSNJ. For guidance in how to report errors see the 'Supplemental Information' section below.
Description: This view displays spatial features from the Legislative District boundaries created by the 2011 Redistricting Commission, with selected attributes from that feature class and the joined table of the 2012 Legislative Roster provided by the NJ Office of Legislative Services. The spatial data used in this view are the Legislative District boundaries re-created by NJOIT OGIS using more accurate municipal boundaries (nj_munis) as the base.

Description: The New Jersey Office of Information Technology (OIT), Office of GIS (OGIS) has enhanced the previously published NJ Department of Transportation (DOT) Roadway Network GIS data set to create a fully segmented Road Centerlines of New Jersey feature class. This dataset includes fully parsed address information and additional roadway characteristics. It provides the geometric framework for display and query of relevant non-spatial data published as separate tables that can be joined to the feature class. The enhancement process included integration of multiple data sets, primarily those developed and maintained by county agencies in New Jersey and the US Census Bureau.

Description: This dataset contains the boundaries of Designated and Proposed Centers of the NJ State Development and Redevelopment Plan (NJSDRP). Centers are the NJSDRP's preferred vehicle for accommodating growth. A Center's compact form is considerably more efficient than sprawl, providing opportunities for cost savings across a wide range of factors. Compact form also translates into significant land savings. A Center's development form and structure, designed to accommodate diversity, is also more flexible than single-use, single-purpose sprawl, allowing Centers to evolve and adapt over time, in response to changing conditions and markets. Centers promote community, protect the environment, provide enhanced cultural and aesthetic experiences, and offer residents a superior quality of life.Designated Centers are those that have been approved by the NJ State Planning Commission, while Proposed Centers are preliminary in nature and usually change upon Designation. Center locations were determined through a process called "Cross-acceptance," in coordination with other state, county and local entities. Refer to the NJSDRP for further description of the geographic nature of Centers.

Description: This spatial layer is a composite of tax parcel polygons, edgematched across most municipal boundaries. It serves as one of the statewide framework GIS data sets for New Jersey. It is compatible with the New Jersey Department of the Treasury MOD-IV system currently used by Tax Assessors. The composite is created from component data sets from 21 counties. All 21 counties in NJ have now been edgematched. Stewardship and maintenance of the data will continue to be the purview of county and municipal governments, but the statewide composite will be maintained by the NJ Office of Information Technology (NJOIT), Office of Geographic Information Systems (OGIS). Please note that these parcel data sets are not intended for use as tax maps. They are intended to provide reasonable representations of parcel boundaries for planning and other purposes.
